Store Heddinge is a cosy market town that can offer a lovely day of shopping and delicious food, with its beautiful old buildings, shopping street and town square. The town has a large selection of shops, cafés and restaurants, with great local service.
You will find the Water Tower from 1911, appearing like a town gate, at the end of Munkegade. The tower was built of chalk from Stevns Cliffs, but with a base of red bricks. going through the gate, you enter "Munkevaenget", a small town park dating from the late 19th century.
Stevns Folklore Museum collects folk tales, stories, myths and legends from Stevns. Here you can learn about the elf people, trolls, the Cliff King Klintekongen and local folklore, superstitions and culture.
This unique market town church was built in limestone from Stevns cliff around 1200 with octagonal nave and rectangular choir. Probably with the king as builder. Later, terraced tower and porch to the south.
Sigerslevhus is situated on the edge of the little village of Sigerslev overlooking the open fields. Not far from there is a beautiful and well-preserved burial mound.
