Dreaming of a family holiday with room for play, nature and quality time? Follow Danish influencer Julie-Elsebeth’s extended weekend in South Zealand and Møn and find inspiration for three days of unforgettable experiences, cosy stays and memories for the whole family.
A family holiday filled with unforgettable experiences and special moments
The perfect family holiday is not about seeing as much as possible. It is about finding the experiences that the whole family will remember long after the suitcases have been unpacked.
We sent the danish influencer Julie-Elsebeth and her family on an extended weekend around South Zealand and Møn to experience some of the region’s best family attractions. From fossil hunting at Møns Klint and fun-filled hours at BonBon-Land to cosy evenings in cabins surrounded by nature. Along the way, they created memories that both children and adults brought home with them.
Here you can follow the family’s itinerary day by day and find inspiration for your own holiday.
We had the most wonderful extended weekend exploring South Zealand and Møn. We experienced magnificent nature, enjoyed fantastic dining experiences, felt the Danish summer at its very best, got sand between our toes, and returned home with memories that both children and adults will treasure.Julie-Elsebeth
Day 1: Fossil hunting, Møns Klint and camping fun
A treasure hunt in nature
The family’s first stop was GeoCenter Møns Klint, where the day began with a guided fossil hunt along the beach beneath the iconic white chalk cliffs.
Here, the GeoCenter’s nature guide showed them how to search for fossils and shared the story of the sea that covered the area around 70 million years ago. Suddenly, the small discoveries among the stones became traces of a world where enormous sea creatures swam long before humans existed.
After the fossil hunt, almost 500 steps awaited on the climb back to the top of Møns Klint. Along the way, there were plenty of short breaks and opportunities to look back towards the beach far below, but even the family’s middle child managed the climb. At the top, the experience continued at GeoCenter Møns Klint, where the family could explore the story even further. GeoCenter Møns Klint is an experience centre where natural history comes to life through interactive exhibitions, films and activities. Here, both children and adults can learn more about how chalk, ice ages and the sea have shaped, over millions of years, the landscape that makes Møns Klint one of Denmark’s most spectacular natural attractions.
We all learned the best tricks for finding amazing fossils and heard all about what happened 70 million years ago – in a way that both children and adults could understand. Afterwards, we visited the interactive science centre, where everything we had just experienced came to life in a completely new way.Julie-Elsebeth
Camping life with plenty of room to play
After a day of spectacular nature experiences, the family continued to De Hvide Svaner Camping near Karrebæksminde, where they checked into a cosy cabin.
The rest of the afternoon was spent enjoying everything that makes a camping holiday so special. The children quickly headed for the jumping pillows and large playgrounds, the family played mini golf, and there was also time for a swim in the outdoor pool.
De Hvide Svaner Camping offers modern cabins, camping facilities and plenty of activities for families with children. Nature is close at hand, with lots of space for both play and relaxation. Just a few minutes’ drive from the campsite lies the holiday town of Karrebæksminde, where cosy seafood restaurants, small ice cream shops and a charming maritime atmosphere invite you to enjoy a peaceful summer evening. This is also where the family ended the day with dinner by the canal and an ice cream at sunset.
We had a wonderful overnight stay in a lovely cabin at De Hvide Svaner Camping. The campsite had jumping pillows, huge playgrounds, mini golf and an outdoor swimming pool!Julie-Elsebeth

Day 2: A day of thrills, laughter and cosy evenings
Excitement for children and adults alike
The next morning, the family headed to BonBon-Land, where they quickly threw themselves into the day’s many activities. They made lollipops, searched for gold, met the BonBon animals and sampled the park’s own favourite sweets. There was also time to explore the large playgrounds, take a ride on Vandrotten and try several of the park’s attractions, including Beaver Rafting.
BonBon-Land is one of Denmark’s most popular amusement parks for families with children. Once admission has been paid, visitors can enjoy more than 60 attractions at no extra cost, quirky BonBon characters, large play areas and plenty of experiences to fill an entire holiday day.
We had the most wonderful day at BonBon-Land, where we made lollipops, searched for gold and enjoyed lots of rides for both children and adults! We have already agreed that we simply have to come back again later this summer.Julie-Elsebeth
Campfire fun and a wilderness hot tub
After a day full of excitement, Julie-Elsebeth and her family continued to Rødvig Ferieby on Stevns, where the pace quickly slowed down.
After checking in, the rest of the day was spent meeting goats and rabbits, playing mini golf and making pancakes over the campfire in the tipi. As evening fell, they rounded off the day in the wilderness hot tub while watching the sunset.
Rødvig Ferieby is located close to the harbour, the beach and Stevns Klint. The cosy wooden cabins are nestled among large trees, and the area offers plenty of activities that make it easy for families to enjoy quality time together.
Rødvig Ferieby is one of the cosiest places we have ever stayed. A little village of wooden cabins among tall trees and beautiful nature. There were rabbits and goats, we made pancakes over the campfire, played mini golf and enjoyed the sunset from the wilderness hot tub.Julie-Elsebeth
Day 3: Experience a little more of Stevns before heading home
One last experience before the journey home
After breakfast, the family packed the car, but before heading home there was time to discover a little more of Stevns.
The journey took them to Stevns Klint, where the steep cliffs rise above the Baltic Sea, then on to Højerup Old Church, perched right on the edge of the cliff, and finally to Rødvig Harbour, where the cosy harbour atmosphere provided the perfect ending to the weekend.
Stevns Klint is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and tells the story of the meteorite impact that changed life on Earth around 66 million years ago. At the same time, it is one of Denmark’s most beautiful places to experience dramatic coastal scenery and breathtaking sea views.
Why South Zealand & Møn are perfect for a family holiday
