Stage 1 Næstved to Præstø, 32 km

Stage 1 takes you from Næstved to Præstø via Regional Route 54. If you’re up for cycling a few extra kilometres on the first day, you can begin with a small detour past the Rococo-style Gavnø Castle (12 km). On the way to Præstø you pass the historic Rønnebæksholm Estate, which today functions as an art gallery. You end your journey in the cosy market town of Præstø. Take a stroll along the cobbled streets or relax with a good glass of wine at the harbour before checking in at Hotel Frederiksminde, where you can enjoy the Michelin restaurant’s exquisite dining experience. Alternatively, you can spend the night at the romantic Jungshoved Præstegård vicarage, which is just 9 km from Præstø.

On the way, you’ll pass the Feddet peninsula, which has one of Denmark’s best beaches, Strandskoven Siberia or Vemmetofte Kloster, all of which invite you to stop and take a break from pedalling. Take a detour on Panorama Route 425 to Faxe Limestone and Geomuseum Faxe, where you can enjoy the view of the limestone quarry from the Prismet viewing platform. In Rødvig, check in at Rødvig Inn and Seaside Hotel, which in 2019 was named Denmark’s Best Seaside Hotel. You immediately feel the relaxed and personal atmosphere here. Stage 3 Rødvig to Klippinge, 26 km

The stage runs along the UNESCO World Heritage Stevns Klint, which offers a wealth of scenic experiences. Enjoy a dip on the beach in Rødvig and make a stop at Boesdal Limestone Quarry, at Højerup Old Church or at Stevnsfort Cold War Museum, which holds Denmark’s biggest war secret. End the day at the popular The Norrmans Boutique Bed & Breakfast – aesthetic accommodation where nothing is left to chance, and a place where you enjoy “social dining” – dinner with the other guests around the long table. Alternatively, you can continue 12 km to Vallø Slotskro, where you can spend the night in an idyllic inn and enjoy an excellent dinner from a kitchen recognised in the White Guide Denmark and the Danish Dining Guide.

Stage 4 Klippinge to Gisselfeld, 43 km

The fourth stage takes you towards the Gisselfeld area, where you will find Gisselfeld Abbey, the Paradehuset orangery in the castle park and Camp Adventure. At Camp Adventure you can experience Denmark’s new top attraction – the 45-metre-high Forest Tower, from which you can enjoy views across all of South Zealand.  You can eat at Villa Gallina and spend the night at Hesede Hovedgård, where you will also find the Veras Verden speciality shop and coffee roastery. Alternatively, you can enjoy dinner at Rønnede Kro and spend the night at Edelsminde B&B.

You can of course spice up your visit to Næstved by browsing the many speciality shops, taking a tour around the city streets and exploring Næstved Art City, which brings street art by international artists to the hidden and forgotten gables.
