Liselund Castle park

Liselund Romantic Garden is nestled in a woodland clearing, creating its own enchanting little world. It is Denmark’s best-preserved romantic garden, where the story of its founder, the nobleman Antoine de la Calmette, and his beloved wife, Lisa, comes to life.

The rolling terrain, varied vegetation, and winding paths around the lakes create ever-changing views and atmospheres. In a romantic garden, the sublime experience of both the dramatic and the gently poetic is essential. Liselund offers both: the rugged cliffs by the coast and the soft, flowing curves of the garden.

From the harmonious garden, the path continues through the dramatic Devil’s Gorge (Djævlekløft), across the Devil’s Bridge (Djævlebroen), and on to the steep chalk cliffs overlooking the beach.

Admission to Liselund Castle Park is free, and the park is open all year round.

In 2020, Liselund Romantic Garden was named one of the 50 most beautiful gardens in Denmark by The Danish Club.

If you are interested in a guided tour, a variety of tours of both the garden and the country house (Liselund Manor House) are available. Read more about the different guided tours here.
