GreenKayak
Green Kayak started as a hobby, with its founder collecting litter from Copenhagen's canals during daily trips as a kayak instructor. The initiative has since grown into an environmental organisation that offers free kayak and equipment hire. In return, participants are asked to collect litter while on the water and share their experience on social media using the hashtag #GreenKayak
Green Kayak launched its first kayaks in 2017, and since then tens of thousands of people have paddled with the shared mission of collecting litter from the water. Together, the Green Kayak organisations in Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Norway and Ireland have removed more than 42 tonnes of waste.
The Green Kayak network aims to raise awareness of the amount of litter that ends up in seas, lakes and canals. By borrowing a Green Kayak, you can enjoy a day on the water while helping to protect the environment.
In Præstø, you can borrow a Green Kayak free of charge and explore Præstø Fjord from the water while giving nature a helping hand.
