In the heart of the charming harbour setting in Klintholm, you will find Ålehuset – a new café and shop with deep roots in local history. The name is no coincidence: Ålehuset is located in the building with the old eel tanks – which can still be seen today – and which were previously used to store eels, an important part of life and trade at the harbour for generations. Today, the site has been carefully transformed into a cosy and tasteful meeting place where past and present come together.

Café with a view and quality in your cup

At Ålehuset, you can enjoy local ice cream, coffee, cold drinks, delicious sandwiches and much more – perfect for a relaxing break overlooking the waves and sailing boats. Everything has been selected with a love of quality and local produce: local ingredients, delicious specialities and an informal atmosphere where you immediately feel welcome.

Ålehuset offers a great outdoor area with large parasols and attractive outdoor furniture. Here you will find both a lounge area and picnic tables, all surrounded by plenty of maritime atmosphere.

Shop with local finds and stories

In the adjoining shop, you will find a fine selection of local food products and local crafts, as well as small gifts with soul. Many of the products tell their own story from Møn – and many have a direct connection to the area and its many passionate local people. The shop also offers lovely souvenirs to remind you of your happy holiday memories from Klintholm Havn.

A vibrant place by the harbour

Ålehuset is not just a café and shop – it is a modern meeting place built on old traditions. Throughout the season, numerous events are held by the harbour. The aim is to bring life and a sense of community to the old harbour area – while respecting the area's proud fishing traditions that once dominated the harbour.

Whether you are on your way to Møns Klint, sailing by on holiday, cycling along the coast or simply looking for a great place to enjoy an ice cream in the sun, Ålehuset is an ideal stop. There is room for both adults and children, and the atmosphere is always warm and personal.

Ålehuset is run by gourmet chef Jesper Dams (owner of Restaurant ND122 in Klintholm Havn) and marketing professional Simon Zachodnik, who both have a great passion for local development on Møn – and especially in Klintholm Havn.
