Præstø Bookstore

The story of Præstø Bookstore is an adventure. When the previous bookseller wanted to retire, the citizens of Præstø came together to create a new bookstore. They formed a cooperative, and today the store is owned by nearly a thousand members, each having purchased a share for 1,000 kroner.

Præstø Bookstore is run by two trained booksellers. In the store you will find:

• A wide selection of books: novels, children’s books, non-fiction, local publications, and more

• Office supplies for home and business

• Thoughtful gifts, personal service, and local events

• An exciting selection for children and young adults

• A locally rooted shop that we own and develop together

• A new way of running a business, benefiting the local trade and cultural life, the people of Præstø, and visitors from near and far

The profits of Præstø Bookstore are used to support the town and local trade through cultural activities that strengthen community and city life. In other words, the money stays in the town – for the benefit of the town.
